december recap part 2

the last few days of december were absolutely wonderful.
two days after christmas, I drove to shreveport to go pick up sean & his brother, dylan, to head to Kansas city, mo for the one thing conference. we did not get spend christmas together so we exchanged gifts when i got to shreveport. this is what he got me:

ninja bread men cookie cutters! i have recently gotten into baking more than usual and i really like using different cookie cutters. i'm so excited to use these and i plan on using them soon. he also got me some other things but they are not in yet.

the one thing conference is hosted by the international house of prayer, aka IHOP. it is held in downtown kansas city, mo every year from december 28-31st. it is a young adult conference that is wonderful and the Lord shows up every year. this was my second time to attend the conference.
This year's theme was "Jesus, Our Magnificent Obsession." it was so good and i did not want to leave. some of my favorite worship artists are from ihop. the conference had at least 30,000 people register to attend & had about 70,000 watch on the webstream. the conference was so good for me. to learn more about my Jesus and how he needs to become my magnificent obsession and not just other people's obsession. i have become more comfortable to sit back and not press into the presence of the Lord. the season i have been in for the last few months have been long and hard. work has become my life and it has spiritually drained me. so to be able to come back into the Lord's presence was so good and sweet. the Lord is so sweet and kind to us, even when we feel shameful. we all endure hardships and being able to escape was what i needed for sure. i learned so much in such a short time. that is my favorite part about One Thing. hopefully, if i remember, i will post more pictures later and some videos of worship.

christmas gift

so i did my first "pinterest" craft. my sister & brother-in-law's christmas was inspired by pinterest. i did the transferring of pictures onto blocks of wood or as i did, i used some craft wood from Michael's. so here are the pictures of my project:

This was the "trial" picture & it turned out pretty good. i did have a little trouble because the more i would use the wet rag, it would start to take the picture off. so i'm not sure if it is the plywood or if it the gel medium i used.

this is the actual picture for their gift. it looks cool to me and my sister & brother-in-law really liked it. i was pleased with reactions. i gave both of the pictures to have.

i hope to do this again so maybe it will look better. i will just continue to practice :D
here is the tutorial of how to do this:

december recap part 1

the month of december was great. i decided to break it up into two parts so that the post won't be so long altogether.
i spent christmas only in birmingham. i haven't done that in years or really ever. i have always driven on thanksgiving & christmas to see my dad's side of the family (which is either in slapout or auburn). it was nice not to drive but it was very different not seeing the Robinson family this whole year. so, with me not driving to another city, i spent christmas morning/afternoon with the Loo family eating yummy chinese food & then i got to go to a christmas dinner at the Wray's household. i absolutely loved going there on Christmas night. i have never done that but it was great spending time with family friends!
i also loved spending time with some of my closest friends. it still blows my mind that i'm still friends with these people. we've been friends since childhood and these girls who have now turned into women are absolutely wonderful! we are all growing up, graduating college & getting married. it's going to be really crazy when we all start to have kids. i can't fathom that right now. haha. i was unable to get a picture of all of us together but we will have one soon! well, in May, when one of my best friends gets married. :D

this is a picture of 3 generations of the Loo family. My grandmother said she wants a 4th! speaking to my sister of course. :D
